Liebster Award I

So I was recently nominated for the Liebster Award and decided that this would be a fun blog prompt and an interesting way to find more awesome blogs that deserve some more followers as well as a way to promote them and my own, and some of the blogs that I all ready do follow, too! So I graciously accept. It also gave me a chance to follow some new blogs myself, most of which I found through BooksBiscuitsandTea as well as TheBrokeandtheBookish blog prompts.

There seem to be many variations of the Rules for receiving the Liebster Award but I am just going with what my nominator posted. So they are as follows.

Rules for Accepting the Award:

Link back to the blog that nominated you.*
Answer the questions they set for the blogs they nominated.**
Nominate 10 blogs of your own, and be sure to let them know, with a link to your post!***
Ask 10 questions for the blogs you nominate to answer in their post.****

I'm adding this one: If you do accept, please send me a link to your post! :D

Questions from My Nominator, Rose*:**

1. How long have you been blogging?
Well, I started this blog...way back in May of 2007. Wow. But then I went through a reconstruction phase, deleted a lot of my old posts and started fresh in December 2011. In July of 2012, I stopped posting once more, but then started back up in January of 2013. But then I went through yet another hiatus phase and just recently started back up in September. I've been relatively active ever since, though I haven't gotten out any new reviews lately because of classes.

2. What kind of stuff to you post about?
Book reviews, blog prompts, and sometimes just general, every day kind of stuff.

3.  What's your favorite book?
Well, isn't that a tough question!? :P I don't know if I could answer this one! The Chronicles of Narnia and the Harry Potter series are what got me back into reading late in middle school/early high school, as well as the Inheritance Cycle and Cornelia Funke's books. I also really enjoyed the Spiderwick Chronicles...oh, there are just so many lovely books I've enjoyed! I guess you could say that recently, my most favorite has probably been The Raven Boys.

4. What's your favorite movie adaptation of a book?
I don't know if I have one of those, because generally, I am gravely disappointed. The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke, the movie edition, was pretty good, if somewhat old. Most others I'm pretty mad about... I liked the Harry Potter movies as well, though they aren't always as close to the books as I would have liked...

5.  If you could travel to any book land, where would you go?
Another tough one. Narnia & Hogwarts are up on top, though.

6.  What book character is most like you, and why?
I've never come across a book character that is like me. Generally, the characters that I end up liking are, in a sense, what I'd like to come across as.....mysterious. :P But in all honestly, I haven't ever found one that really matches my own personality.

7.  What made you want to start blogging?
I can't really remember, originally. I guess I wanted to review books, and since I hang out on Shelfari a lot, blogging seemed like a good way to do that. Recently, though, I just wanted to since I have been feeling bad about putting it off for so long and not having that creative outlet anymore. Also, a bunch of my online friends seemed to be just getting into the blogging craze so I wanted to give it another shot.

8. What's your favorite kind of music?
Oh another tough one! I love so many genre variations, and I usually go through phases of what I like to listen to. Generally, it just depends on my mood. I like Alternative/Pop, Kpop, Soundtracks/Epic Instrumental, Classical Crossover, Latino, and some Country.

9.  Who's your favorite band/artist?
Impossible! There are just too many to choose from! I really like, as of right now, Ellie Goulding, Florence + the Machine, Two Steps from Hell, BIGBANG, but there is just so much more!

10. What are you doing for Thanksgiving?
Ah, Break....I cannot wait!!! I believe we're going to my grandparent's on my mom's side for the day, which is always fun, and then the day after everyone's going to my uncle and his fiancée's wedding. :)

My 10 Blog Nominations:***

1. When did you first begin blogging?
2. What kind of blog do you have?

Showcase Sunday IV

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme run by Books, Biscuits, and Tea. Its purpose is to give bloggers a chance to show off any book related news from the previous week, such as books you've gotten.

Oh wow, I actually got some books yesterday! Not that I have time for any more at the moment... Still, I might be able to get some reading done. I'm mostly caught up in hw, and I don't have much work this week and there's one day I'm off from classes. And I need a good distraction. One of our family's cats, Buddy, passed away yesterday morning and I've felt completely out of it since. :(

So I don't normally pick up the graphic novel editions to my favorite novels, but this one did look interesting and I though I'd try it out, just to see...so we will see...

I was going to hold off on this until my winter break, but I thought I might as well try it. It was a tie between either this or Scarlet, but seeing as how this is a bit shorter, it won. I don't know exactly well I'll get around to reading it, but...you never know.

Flashback Friday III

Oh goodie, the last time I did a Flashback Friday, I was still on the same bloody book as I am now...and I skipped it last week, too! xD Ah, lame... Oh well. Anyway...this weekend, I don't have much hw, but I will probably procrastinate as I always do instead of trying to get it all done today. I'm still reading Coraline, but it's been something I haven't really been picking up except when I am on my break at work. My bedtime reading time has turned into my Shelfari/rpging time or my Supernatural marathon craze time. xP And then I'm just plain busy or stressed throughout the day with either classes or studying or work or procrastination...or sleep. I haven't been eating much, either...I'm afraid I'm going to get sick here soon.... Ah. Such is the life of a poor, struggling, sleep deprived college student.....

On a happier, mostly un-book related note, I finally ordered my Wacom tablet. Still working on organizing all my stuff onto my new laptop...or, not really, but I need to work on that. I also have a selection of manga volumes I'm itching to buy, but I should probably hold off for a bit since I just spent a large chunk of my savings. *sighs* Finally signed up for the spring semester on Wednesday, and I get to take most of the classes I wanted, and my schedule is almost perfect. Also trying to get more involved on campus, decided to join our anime club for something fun to do, checked them out yesterday. I guess that's all...

November 5: Top Ten Sequels I Can't Wait To Get My Hands On

Well...I couldn't really find very many, sadly. I could only find 5, at best, and some of these I'm not even ready for since I still need to read the second books in all of these series, except Ransom Riggs'. I guess it's just most of the series I want to read all ready have a bunch of the books published so I'm not really waiting on much...except time. And I wasn't really a fan of Daughter of Smoke & Bone, but I'm willing to try and finish the series...

Currently Reading II

Life's been hectic lately and I'm feeling really swamped with hw. I am literally drowning beneath all the stress and pressure. So I'm going to keep this relatively short. I didn't have time to do my Flashback Friday post yesterday for personal reasons. I will not being doing a Showcase Sunday post tomorrow, either, since I have not picked up anything new for the week, nor will I be doing a Currently Reading: Manga Edition for this month since nothing has changed since last time...shocking, I know. I can't remember what the next Top Ten Tuesday prompt is, but hopefully I will be able to get to that. I had also meant to make another list of TBR in time for Halloween, but that just didn't happen, either... My novel currently reading pile has fluctuated throughout this month, with much getting set aside...though nothing has been completed, unfortunately.

I'm currently focusing on finishing Coraline. I'm almost halfway through, and I do enjoy this little juvenile fiction novel, which is light and subtly creepy. I meant to have it finished in time for Halloween, along with several others, but that just didn't work out...

Though I am not reading anything else, I wanted to eventually pick back up The Dream Thieves, as well as start Dolly and A Monster Calls. That's all as of right now...

Top Ten Tuesday III

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by

October 29: Top Ten Scariest Looking Book Covers (thanks to Abbi!) or if you haven't done Top Ten Best Books To Read For Halloween when we've done each year you can jump on that!

These are more dark, subtly creepy rather than really really scary. And then there’s bloody, but I’m not going to even go there. I’m going to consider these hauntingly beautiful or just plain...creepy. I couldn’t make a list of top ten to read for Halloween since I haven’t ever read that many...still, I could make a list of my top ten to-be-read for Halloween...I might do that closer to Thursday...

Showcase Sunday III

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme run by Books, Biscuits, and Tea. Its purpose is to give bloggers a chance to show off any book related news from the previous week, such as books you've gotten.

So I got a few more books, for school and for Halloween. I really need to get less, though, since I hardly have anytime at all to read anything recently. I hoard books, all the time, thinking I'll have more time than I do. :P

The Metamorphoses of Ovid
I picked up Ovid's Metamorphoses because I am writing a sculpture comparison for one of my art history classes and one of the sculptures' myth, the one of Apollo and Daphne, is featured in this book. I might not read the whole thing, since it's quite a mouth full and is as heavy as your basic dictionary...but it is very interesting...

The Metamorphoses (or The Golden Ass) by Apuleius
I got to explore my college library for this one, and I'm a bit annoyed I couldn't find the cover online (it's red with golden lettering) or at least a good picture of it. So this is not the correct edition, but oh well... It's actually in two volumes, and I also picked up several other translations and explanations regarding Apuleius' Metamorphoses. My other sculpture's myth, of Cupid and Psyche, is featured in this book. I probably won't read it all, either...

A Monster Calls
And then I picked up one last book for Halloween, saw it on display at one of my libraries in the YA section and decided to just snatch it up. I've got a lot of thin, creepy books this years since I really don't have time for any of the thick ones. Really, I like tiny books. :) Plus there's pictures! So yeah, I hope to finish at least one or two of my Halloween picks before the month is through....

Flashback Friday II

So this week I didn't get much reading done, either, for I've been pretty much swamped with hw and...stuff. Did manage to start Coraline, though, and I think I'll be able to finish at least that this month! Pathetic, I know... No free time! Anyway...hopefully next week I'll be able to post more, maybe even a review...

I think this post will be short, mainly because I have very little time and I have so much studying to do this weekend. I can't even begin to ramble on about it...got a few things worked out that had me really stressed, so that's one good thing. I still have a lot to do, though...

Oh but before I forget, my new laptop arrived! Yay! I'm still working on ordering my art tablet but I have gotten everything else. I'm so happy! It's beeeeautiful! And now I have CS6! :D And I got the coolest case ever, it's one of those Book Book cases. So awesome! :P
