Showcase Sunday / The Sunday Post / Stacking the Shelves IV

So I only got one book last week, but it's enough... Tomorrow, it's back to classes so I really don't know how much reading I'll be doing until May. =/

Flashback Friday IV

So yet again I missed the Top Ten Tuesday post for this weak, Top Ten Things On My Reading Wishlist. Anyway, I don't think I could have come up with ten things that I like authors to include in their story telling, so no biggie...

I didn't actually get any reading done this week, either, unfortunately, but I still have the weekend. It was nice to get to do other things this month, even if I didn't get as much reading done as I would have liked. I know this semester will be busy, and it won't really be until it starts back up that I will have an urge to read and write and do all the things I will no longer have time for. *sighs dismally* But I'm not going to think about that now...

I won't be doing a Sunday post this week since I didn't go by the library this week, and I doubt I will before then...not that I need to, anyway. I will try and get out a TTT post next week, and hopefully have something else read by then. I would like to get out a review or two next month, but I don't know if I'll have the time. We'll have to wait and see...

DAC: My Preliminary List

So I've gone over the list of Debut Author books that is available as of right now. There aren't a lot of definite release dates, especially for some of the later months...so this list will vary depending on how the year goes for me personally and when books actually get published. There's also several that I didn't look into much, or some that don't have covers yet, and in all honesty the cover is generally what makes me even want to consider picking up a book first and foremost. I'm looking forward to several books this year, but I'm only picking one per month in the end... And technically, I plan to read and review them the month after they come out, in case it takes awhile to get my hands on some...

Flashback Friday III

So I read some more manga this week, but that's about it... I'm currently hooked on watching the Vampire Diaries, plus some anime I got recently, so I haven't done much reading as of late. ;P Didn't get to the Top Ten Tuesday post, but I plan to do something similar, with a post later next week of a list of debut books I plan to read this year for the Debut Author Challenge. I also hope to get out my TBR post for 2014 sometime later on this month...

TBR Jar

Okay, I have decided to do another prompt, hopefully per month. I have sooo many books on the TBR pile, and I think this is a good way to make sure I eventually get through them all. I found about this through Shelfari, but I got more information about it from Books and Sensibility, though the original idea came from Alex in Leeds

Basically, you can just get any old jar (I'm sure I've got a mason jar around here someplace), decorate it if you want, write down the titles of books on your TBR pile, toss it in, shake it up, and pick when you're low on books to read.

I never seem to have that problem, so I'm really only using this for books I've been meaning to read for a very very long time, and never seem to get to. So I plan to pick one title per month, as I way to get myself reading again. I've been in a rather long reading slump... I will probably exclude newer books or books I've already started, or even longer series. So for now, it will just be books that I've been meaning to read but haven't had any urging to do so... Here's just a few of the titles I plan to toss in!

The City of Bone
Scarlet
Everbound
Small Steps
The Subtle Knife
Insurgent
Seraphina
Scorpio Races
Eclipse
A Casual Vacancy
The Great Gatsby
Ender's Game
Dance of the Red Death
Life of Pi
Nightfall
Blue Bloods
The Body Finder
Finnikin of the Rock
Soulless
Prince of Thorns
The Power of Six
Rebel Heart

...and a lot more! Wish me luck! :)

Flashback Friday II

Well, I didn't mention this last week, but another one of our cats, Gus, passed away a few days after Christmas. It's a possibility that they were both poisoned, and it's just makes me so angry and upset, and very very worried about our other outdoor cat, Oliver. We're slowly starting to bring him inside, especially with how cold it's been getting recently...but he's starting to wander now... =/ And he's not too happy about the other indoor pets, so we can only bring him for so long before he gets too annoyed. *sighs* Cats...

As far as reading goes, I read some manga volumes. Yay me!

I'm trying to attack my rather teetering manga pile at the moment. I'm also going to try and finish Bird up first as far as novels go, as well as Hearts at Stake, and then I want to try and focus on The Dream Thieves since I have put it off for far too long... I have a little over two weeks left of break and I want to get as much reading done as possible! That's about it for now...

Flashback Friday

So yeah, this week has been full of postings. I really want to get some reviews out soon, but I guess I just never know what to start with or I wait too long until after reading it to be able to come up with a good review. I also really don't like putting out critical reviews, though it's usually impossible not to have some level of critisim. If there's a book I absolutely cannot stand, or even finish, I most likely will not even attempt to review it. Same if it's just meh. I guess I just want to aim to review interesting books that I want to stand out more. I was considering just starting fresh with this years reads, but I may or may not review a few books from last month sometime this month...we'll see...

As far as reading goes, I did manage to read some stuff this week... I also got some books, which I'll mention on Sunday. Still reading basically the same stuff, over all, but I finished the following two...

Durarara!! 4
Garfield 35

I also plan to get out a post sometime this weekend perhaps, or next week, with a list of books I would like to get to this year. I think that's all for now...

Currently Reading: Manga

Again, my currently reading pile of manga, as well as a brief plan for the month. I hope to read, at the very least, 8 manga volumes per month.

I'm also terribly behind in reading the online updates in several manga series, but I do plan to figure that all out sometime this month, since that might possibly change my book count for last year...

Currently Reading

So this is what I'm currently focusing on right now, and what I plan to for the month. It's more of a preliminary plan, really. I'm changing the way I do certain posts, and this seems to be slightly more organized. This plan fluctuates, generally, depending on how interesting I find certain books, and how long they take me, and how much time I end up having...

Knowing how busy this year will be, I have a simple goal of reading at least 4 novels per month. I hope to read much more than that over break, but we shall see...
